Overturned Fishing Boat Found in the Yakima River

Posted: Updated:

RICHLAND, Wash-- Investigators in Benton County want to know more about an
overturned fishing boat found in the Yakima River Sunday Evening.

The boat was found empty, but Sheriff's Deputies searched the Yakima River near Queensgate drive in Richland. The Benton County Sheriff's Office says there is no evidence that anyone is missing, but there was a fishing pole and chair inside the boat.

Dispatchers say that if you see something out of the ordinary on the river make sure you call 9-1-1.

"If you see something I would just let them know that, hey, I'm along the river, I see a boat that is overturned, and I don't see anybody. I normally do not see overturned boats in this area," said Steve Sautter, Benton County Emergency Services.

Dispatchers advise giving as much information as you can and trying to remain calm. They say look for road signs to give the best description you can letting emergency crews know how to react.
