FINLEY, Wash.- A group of summer campers hear the importance of life jacket safety on the water this summer.
Drowning is the biggest cause of death for children age one to four.
They emphasize the importance of wearing life jackets for kids and how important it is they not only wear a life jacket, but that it fits correctly.
"This life jacket would come off of her and she would end up sinking to the bottom of the river and all we'd find is the life jacket," said expert Marc Allen.
Free life jacket rentals are available at some local parks and beaches.
So far, the Columbia Basin hasn't seen a child drowning yet this summer.
