Art Meets Baseball as the ArtsVan Stops at the Bear's Game

YAKIMA, Wash-- Allied Arts teamed up with the Yakima Bears to bring in the ArtsVan, a traveling art education program.

Tonight young Bear fans colored, cut and glued their very own Bears pennants. The ArtsVan travels around Yakima during the school year and summer, bringing fun events and art education to children. Artists trained as teachers help introduce children to art with hands-on projects. Even the simplest supplies can produce great art.

"It's just a great introduction to art, you can use really simple materials. We'll be using construction paper tonight. Art should be just part of your everyday life and it's a fun thing for the kids to get in to," said Jessica Moskwa, Executive Director for Allied Arts.

Art and sports are a great combo said Moskwa. She thinks a balance of both is perfect for kids. She noted that these free events bring art to many children who wouldn't normally have the chance to create art. Bear's players were also on hand to autograph the completed artwork.
