Home Care Initiative

WASHINGTON--Supporters of statewide home care initiative I-1029 want long-term care workers to have more training.

But opponents say there's no proof additional hours would make care better.

Right now, home and community based long-term care workers are required to have 34 hours of training, but no certification.

If I-1029 passes, all long-term care workers, including those who take care of an elderly parent or relative, will need 75 hours of training starting in 2010.
