Community Pulls Together to Help a Young Woman with Cancer
NACHES, Wash-- Battling cancer since she was 18, the now 20-year-old Kirsten Schuler dreams of relaxing on a cruise.
Friends and family donated baked goods and garage sale items to help her cause. She has a rare form of soft tissue cancer, there are only about 350 cases a year. This is the third time her cancer has returned. Now, Schuler wants to see the Carribean, hopefully this summer.
"So I have a three week, it's about a three week period in there that I'll be able to not have chemo. So hopefully in the that spot because I otherwise I'm going to have to really try to work around my chemo," said Schuler.
Schuler travels to children's hospital in Seattle to receive chemotherapy and works part time, when she feels well enough. A benefit account has been set-up in her name, donations can be made at local Wells Fargo Banks.
