KENNEWICK, Wash. - When it's extremely hot outside, changing your daily routine can help you avoid getting sick from the heat.
A spokesperson from Emergency Services said if you exercise or work outside, try doing it in the morning instead of the afternoon. Make sure to take more breaks throughout the day, and drink a lot of liquids to stay hydrated.
"With the all of the heat that we're having right now, heat exhaustion and heat stroke can come on fairly quickly," said Steve Sautter, Benton County Emergency Services.
Sautter said people should try to keep cool. That means avoid spending a lot of time in the sun. Try taking cool showers and eat cool foods like salads.
