KENNEWICK. Wash.-- The Benton County Coroner Rick Corson says fishermen found the body of 74 year old Ed Gilbert Sunday afternoon.
It was found in the Columbia River halfway between Clover Island and McNary Dam. On Monday morning his son in law Randy Barnes identified the body.
We talked to Barnes earlier he says this is still a very emotional time for the family. But he says they're glad to know the body was found. It has brought them a sense of closure.
"Well the family is relieved, you know everyday you're waiting, anticipating that phone call along the lines, and it's nice to know that we've got that phone call now, and we won't get another one," said Randy Barnes.
Gilbert's body was found just a day after his memorial service on Saturday. The family says they're glad the body wasn't found on the same day as the memorial because it allowed them, to give Gilbert a proper good bye.
