PASCO, Wash.-- Russ Durrant, a friend of the family told us the two women met through his sister in law Teresa Flores.
He says Flores met Phiengchai Sisouvanh about a year ago. This is how Sisouvanh met Araceli Gomez.
Gomez lives in apartment on Lewis Street in Pasco with her husband Juan Campos and their two children. Durrant says picked Gomez up at a bus stop on Elm Street, to take her to a fruit stand once.
This is when Gomez gave Sisouvanh her address and phone number. Prosecutors say they're still investigating what kind of relationship the two women had.
"As of now I don't think we have any evidence that the defendant and the victim worked together," said Andy Miller, Benton County Prosecutor.
Family friends also say Sisouvanh had offered Gomez baby clothes for the boy she was expecting in two weeks. They say the family was trying to make ends meet, as migrant field workers.
Durrant says on Friday night between 6:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m., the victim's husband was out of the apartment with their children. When they returned the door was open, the lights were on and the phone was missing.
