Sea to Sea Bike Tour Makes a Pit Stop and Lends a Hand in Yakima
YAKIMA, Wash- More than two-hundred bicyclists are making a trek across the country this summer.
Today they took time to step away from their two-wheelers to lend a hand at Yakima's Union Gospel Mission. Volunteers helped load furniture at the mission's warehouse. Then helped prepare dinner by chopping veggies for tacos.
The "Sea to Sea 2008 Bike Tour" is creating awareness about poverty as well as raising funds to support organizations aimed at ending poverty. The nearly four-thousand mile tour kicked off Monday in Seattle and is scheduled to be a nine week trip.
Cyclists rode through Ellensburg to Selah before coming to Yakima today.
