CHICAGO (AP) - Democrat Barack Obama is linking Republican rival John McCain to President Bush's policies, saying they're to blame for the country's economic woes.
In remarks Obama plans to deliver today in Charlotte, North Carolina, he says economic policy under a Republican president "hasn't worked, it won't work, and it's time to try something new."
Obama says the world and the economy have changed, "only Washington has stood still." He says the progress made during the 1990s was quickly reversed by policies that reward "not work, not success, but pure wealth," arguing that Bush policies were skewed toward big corporations and multimillionaires.
Obama is again calling for a second stimulus package with energy rebates for working families, a fund to help families avoid foreclosure, and increased assistance for states that have been hard-hit by the economic downturn.
