YAKIMA, WASH. -- A man accused of a fatal gang shooting seven years ago in Yakima has been arrested in El Paso, crossing the border from Mexico.
Customs and Border Protection says the 26-year-old man, Salvador Nava, presented his identification and declared his U.S. citizenship at 4 a.m. Sunday in a pedestrian inspection area.
Nava is currently in custody at the El Paso County Jail. He is awaiting extradition to Yakima where he will face hcarges of First Degree Murder.
He's accused of shooting and killing Antone Masovero in May of 2001 in a car in Yakima. The shooting happened on the corner of Fair Avenue and Nob Hill Boulevard. Nava was identified as the one who fired the shots. Police say the shooting was gang-related.
