Chocolate Returns To The Tri-Cities On Wednesday After More Than 5 Months Of Physical Therapy

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, Wash. - He rolled into town in style after more than five months of surgery and physical therapy.

Chocolate got a warm welcome when he arrived at Meadow Hills Veterinary Center in Kennewick just after three o'clock Wednesday afternoon.

He arrived in a donated limo from Racing Limo. Chocolate has been recovering at Washington State University in Pullman.

He was rescued back in February.  His doctor thinks he was roaming the streets for somewhere between 4 and 6 months with two broken front legs.

His story of inspiration has touched people throughout the country.

Meadow Hills co-owner Dr. Janine Swailes said, "In the beginning he was obviously suffering a great deal and it just grabbed at people's heartstrings.  He was a very determined dog to have survived as long as he did with his handicap."

The WSU team was sad to see him go and said that an underwater treadmill really helped him with recovery.

There are three families in the running for adopting Chocolate.  There is a board of people who will determine the best living situation for Chocolate.

One local family will take him home next week.
