Washington State Offering Free Discount Drug Card

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, Wash. - The State of Washington wants to remind you, it wants to help pay for your prescription drugs.

Right now the state is encouraging everyone in Washington to sign up for a free discount drug card. People with the card can get discounts on their prescriptions.

Officials in charge of the program report - things like high gas prices are forcing people to make tough choices on how they spend their money.

"People are making some very difficult decisions.  One of the decisions they shouldn't be making is, can I get the drugs I need to keep me alive?" said Dave Wasser, Spokesperson for the Washington State Health Care Authority.

The card is free. If you'd like to sign up for one, you can either go online at www.rx.wa.gov or call the drug card sign up number at 1-800-913-4146.

We've set up a link to the website.  Just click on the "On Air Links" tab, and look for "Discount Drug Card."
