DETROIT, Mich. - Steve David and the U-6 Oh Boy! Oberto held off Jean Theoret in the U-37 Beacon Plumbing to win Heat 2A at Detroit's Gold Cup.  It was a barn burner with Theoret and David battling it out for nearly all five laps.

Rain delayed the start of racing again and rain fell throughout Heat 2A.

    * One lap penalty for bearing out

The tie up between the U13 and the U5 produced yet another fantastic heat of racing for the rain soaked fans in Detroit.

Two five minute holds to reset buoys on the course caused some anxious times as the camps were ready to run. The U10 went dead right before the start of the race and had to restart.

The 13 and 5 dueled hard as they hung it all out and gave another fine race for the fans. Lap 2 saw the 5 and 13 still tied up. JMK pushed the 7 all the way not giving up. Third lap saw them tied up even still. They were running deck to deck as they came through the rootertail turn.

Again Kelly pushed the 5 as he crossed the finish line it was the 5, 13, 25.  The 10 was struggling as he crossed in fourth.  The U-25 had to run another lap due to a penalty for bearing out, so that gave the U-10 3rd and pushed the U-25 to 4th.
