Everett Takes Tri-City, 8-5Posted: Updated:
PASCO, Wash. -- The Tri-City Dust Devils fell to the Everett AquaSox 8-5 Saturday night in front of a crowd of 3,129 at Gesa Stadium. The loss snaps a four game winning streak for the Dust Devils (16-9), who had won the first three games of their five game series with the AquaSox (10-15). Tri-City falls to three games behind Spokane in the Northwest League East Division race.
Everett jumped on the board early with a two-run top of the first, with Kevin Reynolds and Manelik Pimentel both doubling in the inning. The Dust Devils wasted little time in responding, as Thomas Field led off the bottom of the first with a walk, stole second, and scored on a Charlie Blackmon double.
After Everett scored a run in the fourth, the Dust Devils tied it up at three with a pair of runs in the bottom half of the frame. A comeback victory was not in the cards, however, as the AquaSox scored runs in the next four innings and the Dust Devils were unable to take advantage of multiple scoring opportunities.
Blackmon raised his average to .319 with a 3 for 5 night at the plate, while Reynolds and Pimentel both had three hits, with two doubles each.
Everett starter Steven Hensley (1-1) earned the win after giving up three runs on six hits in five innings pitched. He also fanned nine Dust Devils. Rod Scurry (0-1) took the loss for Tri-City.
The five game series concludes Sunday night. The first Lourdes Health Network Little League Clinic will precede the game at 4 p.m. The clinic is free for kids with a ticket to the game.
