YAKIMA, Wash-Delta Air Lines has canceled all flights to and from Yakima after August 31st due to high fuel costs.
Now travelers will have to find a new way to get to their destinations.
One woman we spoke with said she had a ticket booked with Delta since early March. Now she is going to drive to the Tri Cities, fly to her destination, fly back to Tri Cities and drive back to Yakima. She says it will cost her more to drive to Tri Cities and to leave her car, but it is a lot cheaper than driving and flying from Seattle.
If you have a ticket with Delta you do have options:
You can receive a refund
Drive to Pasco or Seattle and fly from there
Fly with Horizon
Travel agents are telling people to speak with whoever sold you a ticket whether it was online or with your agent.
The manager of Yakima Air Terminal sent out a letter stating they hope to work with Delta in the future once fuel costs go down. And they are now looking to add additional airline services and destinations.
