Yakima Woman Shot and Killed; Police Suspect Son-in-Law
YAKIMA, Wash. -- Yakima Police are searching for a man who, they believe, shot and killed his mother-in-law on the front lawn of an apartment complex on 16th Avenue Tuesday night.
Police said their only suspect in the case is 45-year-old Vincente Diaz.
The victim, Maria Moya, 63, was sitting in front of her apartment building on the 600 Block of S. 16th Avenue at about 10:30. Police said that is when Diaz walked up, shot her several times, then drove off in a white Cheverolet pick-up truck.
Diaz is married to Moya's daughter and police said he was angry over their recent break up.
Detectives intend to get a warrant for Diaz's arrest on first-degree murder charges.
