Obama Finds Criticism of Wife 'Infuriating'

Posted: Updated:
WASHINGTON (AP) - Barack Obama says the one thing that really
bugs him as he runs for president is the way his wife has been
criticized. And he's pointing the finger at the conservative press.
Obama tells Glamour magazine that attacks on Michelle Obama are
"infuriating." He says conservatives go after her as if she, not
he, is the Democratic candidate. And he said if they have a problem
with him on policy, "they should debate me. Not her."
Obama's wife is a key part of her husband's campaign. She was
heavily criticized back in February for her remarks about being
proud of her country for the first time in her adult life. She
eventually explained that she meant to say how particularly proud
she is to see the number of people getting involved in the
political process.
Glamour plans to run interviews with Obama and Republican John
McCain in October.
