Officers Pull Over Vehicle Matching Description from Drive By Shooting

Posted: Updated:

YAKIMA, Wash-- With two shootings in two weeks Yakima police are jumping on any possible leads. Tonight searching a blue Cadillac with white wall tires.

Thursday July 10th two young men were shot in a drive by on the 100 block of 6th street. One of the vehicles described by witnesses was a blue Cadillac with white wall tires.

Officers converged quickly tonight on a vehicle matching that description. Neighbors on Plath street were surprised to see this kind of police action on their normally quiet street. Many think recent violence is a community problem.

"I know we've tried a lot of things as far as youth programs. Um we need to do more. I don't like hearing the excuses that we don't have enough money. We've got moneys we just need to bring it out and hopefully better our youth our future," said Juan Gonzales, a neighbor.

An unmarked Yakima police car pulled over the suspicious vehicle and at least six more police cars arrived shortly after. After talking with the young man driving the vehicle officers searched his car. Officers said while this car is unique they don't think it was the car involved in the shooting and the driver was let go.
