Voter Registration Deadline For Washington Primary
KENNEWICK, Wash. - If you want to vote in the primary election, the deadline is Saturday. There is an exception, but it's a little tricky.
Some people can still walk in to their local county auditor's office past the deadline and register in person. Here's how it works.
If you've never registered in Washington state before, you can walk in and register to vote until August 4th. But that's it. That's the only exception. If you're new and you want to do it online or mail it in, you have to do it by Saturday with everyone else. That also goes for people who need to re-register because they moved, or changed their name, etc.
For example, if you moved from Yakima to Kennewick, and you want to vote on local issues in the primary you have to do it by Saturday. And you can only do it online or mail it in. You can't do it in person anymore.
Again, here's the rule: new voter - August 4th - in person; voters who need to change something - Saturday - online or by mail.
