KENNEWICK, Wash-- With Water Follies only a week away, crews started mapping the hydro course with buoys this morning.

Scuba divers positioned each buoy by dropping weights with styrofoam blocks attached to the end. Each buoy is set using GPS to keep the race course consistent.

At 2.5 miles long, there's a lot of the Columbia River to cover.

"There's restrictions on how close we can be to the shore, how far away, and how big the course can be," said Michael Hendrickson, Water Follies Race Director.

The race course is similar to last year's and the only change is Unlimited Lights race course has been set inside the main course.

Hendrickson says he expects low winds should contribute to an overall safe weekend.
