PASCO, Wash-- A few kids, grandparents, and even the Mayor of Pasco found a creative way to ask voters to vote for pools today. They wrote and drew on postcards, which will be sent to the homes of voters.
The Commitee for Pasco Pride for Pools needs 60 percent of the vote to get a $10 million bond: $3 million would help remodel memorial park $7 million would build a new aquatic center near TRAC.
A 2007 survey said 78 percent of Pasco homeowners want the new facilities.
"One of the key things that Pasco has a shortage of is water facilities to teach swimming lessons and provide family quality leisure time close to home. With gas prices the way they are close to home is a good idea," said Bill DeBoard, Chairman of Pride of Pasco Pools
This issue will be listed on the Aug. 19th ballot to authorize the bond sale to help finance the renovation and new construction.
If built, the aquatic center will include a six-lane lap pool, water slide, lazy river, and a splash pool.
