Kennewick Police Tased Drunk Driver

Posted: Updated:
KENNEWICK, Wash-- A drunk driver makes a Kennewick Police Officer's job easy earlier this morning.

Jesse Cruz, 27 year-old, was driving on Benton Street near 1st Ave when he crossed into an undercover officers lane, nearly hitting him head-on. The driver was quickly pulled over.

"He jumped right out in front of them and nearly hit them head on you know at that point we really don't have to work for probable cause. He's just given us the reason to contact him," said Ofc. Joe Jackson, Kennewick Police Department.

Police say Cruz wasn't cooperating with police. He also kept reaching under the seat, making police think he had a weapon. Once officers got him out of the car, he started fighting and even managed to get away.

After a short chase, police ended up tasing Cruz to get him into custody. He was booked into the Benton County jail for DUI, resisting arrest, and driving with a suspended license.
