Yakima Neighbors Talking After Kidnapping Turns Into a High Speed Chase
YAKIMA, Wash-Neighbors are talking after a kidnapping turns into a high speed chase then a crash in their neighborhood.
The kidnapping took place at the Orchards parking lot at 72nd and Tieton. The victim told police the suspect was romantically interested in her and wanted her to move to another city with him. When she refused he threatened to commit suicide and pulled her into his car.
The victim was able to run from the car when the suspect slowed down. After chasing her, the suspect got back in his car and drove off. Yakima Sheriffs found him a short time later before he crashed into a power pole.
Neighbors say they feel safe in their neighborhood and are completely shocked to hear of a kidnapping and high speed chase near their homes. Others say you will find crime no matter where you live.
The suspect will go to jail once he is released from the hospital. The victim is being treated for scrapes and bruises.
