KENNEWICK, Wash. -- U-5 driver Jeff Bernard sits second in this year's points standings but it is thanks in large part to his teammate Mike Allen, the U-7 driver.
FormulaBoats.Com will bring two hydros to the Tri-Cities this weekend. And for much of the season, Mike Allen has been Bernard's wingman, guiding him to the top.
But after the U-7 flipped in the Gold Cup in Detroit, a back-up boat and back-up driver Jimmy Shane will hope to provide 23-year-old U-5 driver Jeff Bernard a helping hand.
In Evansville, earlier this season, Bernard expressed just how much Allen has helped him.
Bernard said, "Thank God for Mike being on my outside. He left me plenty of room going into the first turn. This is what we want, both Formula Drivers up front. Like I said, thanks Mike for leaving me a bunch of room ... I'm so happy for the Formula Boats, what a way for us to start out the year."
Last year in the Tri-Cities, Bernard finished in fifth while the second Formula Boat finished a distant twelfth.
