YAKIMA, Wash-How clean are Yakima public pools? We met with a pool inspector today to investigate the cleanliness of Franklin Pool. And they passed.
Pool inspector Laura Charters says she inspects seasonal pools once a year and yearly pools twice a year. She checks the chemistry of the water meaning the two main things she looks for are the chlorine levels and the clarity of the water.
Laura says the two tests are extremely important and usually easy to fix if the pool doesn't pass. But children have drowned because parents were unable to see into the pool.
Fortunately, that wasn't the case for Franklin Pool. Jason Zeller is the pool's aquatic specialist and he says he checks the levels of chemicals every morning and night. The pool has always passed the pool inspection tests.
If you want to get your own pool inspected you can call a local pool company. Or if your public pool isn't clean enough you can call the Health Department.
