KENNWICK, Wash-- The Kennewick Fire Department also says they get really busy after the races clear out. One of the major health risks at the boat races is heat emergencies.
Firefighters say the combination of drinking and being out in the hot sun can make you sick. They also say drinking alcohol the night before can make you more susceptible because of the added dehydration.
A firefighter paramedic says they find people passed out in very interesting places after the races.

"That's when we end up with a lot of people passed out do to heat emergencies, locked in out-houses, fights errupt, drunk driving," said Matthew Worman, Kennewick Firefighter Paramedic.

Kennewick Fire Department has geared up in the park with two medic bike teams and a medical boat in the river. They also have an ambulance in the hydro pits.
