OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) - Washington parents know a lot about choosing quality childcare for their kids.
That's the conclusion of a survey released Tuesday by the State Department of Early Learning.
Department Director Jane Bosworth says the information gathered in the survey will help state officials set policy and plan programs to help parents.
They found that it takes a wide variety of communication approaches to reach all families with information to get their young children ready to succeed in school.
The Department of Early Learning has been a cabinet level department for the past two years.
The Legislature gave the department $400,000 to conduct the parent needs assessment survey.
It reached out to more than 900 families by telephone and focus group.
