YAKIMA, Wash. - Justin Parker went 2-3 with two RBI, but the Yakima Bears lost to the Eugene Emeralds 8-5 in the finale of a five-game series at Yakima County Stadium.
Eugene opened up an 8-0 lead after four innings. Matt Clark started the scoring with an RBI single in the first to make it 1-0. He also capped off a seven-run fourth with a bases-loaded three-run double to left. The Emeralds used an RBI single by Beemer Weems, a two-run double by Logan Gelbrich, and an RBI single by Blake Tekotte in the fourth.
The Bears jumped on the board on David Cooper's sacrifice fly in the fifth. They scored another in the seventh on Parker's RBI single. Yakima scored three in the eighth on a run-scoring wild pitch, an error, and an RBI double by Parker.
Daniel Vasquez, Sean Morgan, Bryan Woodall, and Jordan Meaker combined to throw 5.1 innings of scoreless relief. Meeker struck out four in two innings.The Bears are off Wednesday, and are back on the road to take on the Spokane Indians Thursday night in the first of a three-game series. Ian Harrington will be on the mound for a 6:30 p.m. first pitch at Avista Stadium.
