Yakima Senior Citizens are Suffering from Unaffordable Dental Care
YAKIMA, Wash-Yakima has a big need right now for dental hygienists to treat senior citizens.
Many seniors are on a fixed income and most don't have insurance making it difficult to pay for dental care. As a result many don't ever see a dentist.
Ron Anderson works at Harman Senior Center and he says more than half of the seniors at the center don't see a dentist.
Now many of them have mouth infections and diseases. Some can barely eat because it is too painful.
Yakima senior centers are now looking for cheaper and affordable ways for seniors to take care of their dental needs. One way is to bring dental hygienists to the senior centers. But first they need dental hygienists who are willing to help out. And they need money for equipment.
If you are interested in helping seniors with dental care please contact Norma wells at (206) 616-1675.
If seniors do not receive dental care now, their mouth infections and diseases may not be treatable later.
