SEATTLE 2008: Steve David in the U-6 Oh Boy! Oberto/Miss Madison wins Heat 2A restart

SEATTLE, Wash. -  Jeff Bernard in the U-5 FormulaBoats.com jumped the gun and handed Steve David the win in the U-6 Oh Boy! Oberto/Miss Madison in the restart of Heat 2A. 

The race had to be re-run after David Bryant in the U-10 Hoss Mortgage Investors went up and over in the first running of Heat 2A.  Jeff Bernard was leading the race in the first running and looked to be on his way to victory.

"That was a huge help for us (in the points race)," said David.  "Jeff's going to be a terrific driver.  Lord knows I've made a lot of mistakes."

"I think he probably psyched himself out," said David.

Bernard said he jumped the gun because he had to speed up to avoid a penalty for being off-plane in the score-up period.

"ABRA rules are a bunch of bull-crap.  They took another heat away from us.  It sucks," said Bernard on KIRO-TV.  "I ended up jumping the gun because I sped up, they told me to speed up."

"These starting rules are a joke."
