KENNEWICK, Wash. - You used to have to drive to Spokane Hoopfest if you wanted to play in a 3-on-3 tournament. Not anymore. The 1st annual "Downtown for Three" tournament is this weekend in Kennewick. It's put on by the Historic Downtown Kennewick Partnership. 85 teams signed up for various divisions, dividing player based on age and skill level. Saturday it tipped off with round robin play. Double elimination play begins Sunday. So far the tournament has gone well. "We haven't had any issues with any fighting going on," said organizer Shawn Edmond. "We had one injury. One guy cracked his head open but is back. He wanted to play, but he's not gonna play. 3-on-3 has been going on all over the place for a long time,. They used to have one here nine or ten years ago. We've thrown a couple here in the last ten years. We just set up this one to last for about the next twenty years if we can."
