YAKIMA, Wash. - Jharmidy DeJesus laid down a suicide squeeze bunt to score the game-winning run in the ninth as the Everett AquaSox beat the Yakima Bears 4-3 Tuesday night at Yakima County Stadium.
DeJesus bunted the ball towards the mound as Nate Tenbrink charged home with one out and the game tied at three. Bryan Woodall did all he could, charging and fielding it, then flipping with his glove in one motion to catcher Jhoan Pimentel as Tenbrink slid just safely under the tag.
The AquaSox tied the game in the seventh on an RBI single by Wellington Dotel, lining the ball past a drawn-in Bears infield with one out and Tenbrink at third.
The Bears took the lead with a three-run fifth inning, thanks in part to bases loaded walks to Justin Parker for the first run and Roberto Rodriguez for the third run. Andrew Fie tied the game with an RBI single, finishing the night 3-4 with an RBI.
Everett scored two runs in the third to take the game's first lead on a solo homerun by DeJesus and an RBI groundout by Luis Nunez.
T.J. Hose pitched a strong seven innings, giving up three runs on seven hits with one walk and three strikeouts.
The Bears send Ryan Cook to the mound in the third of the five-game series Wednesday night at 7:05 p.m.
