Sept 20th - Adventure Challenge

The Tri-Cities Rivershore Enhancement Council is hoping to encourage Tri-Citians to get out & help celebrate the completion of the Sacagawea Heritage Trail by attending the Sacagawea Heritage Trail Adventure Challenge taking place from 9:00 a.m. to noon on Saturday September 20, 2008. The trail, which is a 23 mile paved pathway runs along the Columbia River in both Benton & Franklin Counties, has been a long term project for the cities of Kennewick, Pasco, & Richland; the Ports of Benton, Kennewick, and Pasco; both Benton & Franklin Counties; & the Tri-Cities Visitor and Convention Bureau. The Adventure Challenge will feature 11 different checkpoint stations which can be accessed along the trail. Participants can start at any point along the trail which can be accessed from multiple points in Kennewick, Pasco, or Richland. The event has teamed up with the Tri-Cities Food Bank and the donation of a non-perishable food item is encouraged.  The event is being funded by a grant from REI that helps with the overhead costs and includes a contribution of outdoor gear to be used as prizes for the event.
Grand prizes include two Novara mountain bikes, three back packs, & three messenger bags all from REI; & a back pack & $50 gift card from JC Penney. Many other prizes donated by the following businesses will be given away: Cedars restaurant, Clover Island, Cousin's Restaurant, Joker's Sports Bar & Casino and Atomic Bowl, McDonald's, Pita Pit, Tri-City Court Club, & U.S. Cellular.
