WALLA WALLA, Wash. - The Walla Walla Blue Devils are eager to prove that last year's 2-8 record is a thing of the past. Last year was a struggle for a young team, but it should pay off in 2008. "We have quite a few juniors who played a lot as sophomores," said Coach Marc Yonts. "They were forced to play and did pretty well. They are a year older, so we expect with all the guys coming back that we should be a little better this year." Marc Yonts gets 7 starters back on offense, 6 on defense. "We're not as young as last year, so we have pretty big expectations going into the season.," said QB Gary Winston. Winston takes over at QB for David Weisner. Winston lit up the basketball court last year as a sophomore, and he'll have a shot to do the same on the gridiron as a junior. They'll run a spread offense and hope to silence their opponents. "They don't respect us," said Austin Schilling. "This year we have a good chance to make that change. It depends on us coming out and really rocking people."
