CEO of Only Bilingual Newspaper in Washington Speaks At WSU Tri-Cities

RICHLAND, Wash.-- Many students and staff at WSU Tri-Cities got to hear from a local community leader on Thursday, September 25th.

Albert Torres is the CEO and Publisher of Tu Decides, the only bilingual newspaper in Washington.

It's all part of Hispanic Heritage Month. Torres talked to the crowd about the growing Hispanic community in the Tri-Cities, and some common misconceptions.

"The most important thing is understanding our hopes and dreams, that are very much the same as every American's hopes and dreams, to reduce the fear that people have of the growth that the Hispanic community is experiencing," said Albert Torres.

The bilingual newspaper has been around for a year and half. Torres says they started out with 5,000 copies and now they're up to 25,000.

He encourages students to write for his newspaper, in English and Spanish.
