Seattle Homeless Camp Moves To Park

Posted: Updated:
EATTLE (AP) - A Seattle homeless camp known as Nickelsville has
moved to Discovery Park.
Campers set up their tents Wednesday night on land leased to the
United Indians of All Tribes Foundation.
The camp opened last week on city land in south Seattle and
named itself Nickelsville in a move to pressure Seattle Mayor Greg
Nickels into opening more shelters for the homeless. Nearly two
dozen campers were arrested Friday when they refused to move.
Others accepted offers of shelter, and some moved to nearby
state land where they stayed until Wednesday under an agreement
with Gov. Chris Gregoire.
