The 13th Annual Tri-Cities Prep Salmon Derby is October 4th-5th, on the Hanford Reach area of the Columbia River.
That's where close to 200 fishermen from all over the Northwest are expected to be Saturday and Sunday. Proceeds from the charity tournament, go to Tri-Cities Prep in Pasco.
There are cash prices for those who catch the biggest fish. Anglers will be able to weigh in at three different locations. One at Ringold, one at Vernita Bridge, and also at Leslie Groves Park in Richland.
One angler tells us why he prefers salmon fishing.
"Salmon are some of the most beautiful and most outstanding fish in the world, they're absolutely gorgeous and you know they're also really good eating, they put up a really fantastic fight, and it's also beautiful being out here," said Paul Krupin, Salmon Fisherman.
You have until Friday night to sign up. At any Joe's Sporting Goods store or Sportsman Warehouse. The entry fee is $25 for adults, and $12 for kids 12 and younger.
