KENNEWICK, Wash.-- It's just nine days until this year's Mid Columbia Duck Race, and a local group is making sure to get all their ducks in a row.
On Thursday, some developmentally disabled people at Columbia Industries were hard at work labeling ducks. There are 45,000 ducks to mark.
A portion of the proceeds from the race will go back to Columbia Industries. Staff at Tri-Cities Rotary say they hope to sell all 45,000 by race day.
"I'm hopeful that we'll hopefully get to the 40,000 mark, which is what we did last year, and if we can get anywhere close to 45,000 , I'll be grateful," said Terry Fleischman, with the Tri-Cities Rotary.
Staff at Columbia Industries say they're doing about 5,000 to 10,000 ducks per day. They hope to be done labeling sometime Monday.
