Apollo Stepping up to Help Benton Franklin Volunteer Center
KENNEWICK, Wash. - The Volunteer Center in Kennewick is in danger of closing and members of the community are coming together to help save it.
Employees at Apollo, Inc. will hold a giant yard sale October 4th, and all the proceeds will go directly to the Benton Franklin Volunteer Center.
Not receiving an annual $50,000.00 grant this year from United Way left the center struggling to survive. But United Way representatives say the Center was told of the changes two years ago and should have taken precautions sooner.
To help cover the loss, Apollo employees will hold a yard sale at the company's headquarters parking lot on West Columbia Drive in Kennewick, Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
The event will also feature a bake sale, raffles, and kids will be running a popcorn machine.
