YAKIMA, Wash- Sunday was the last day of the fair and now the rides are all packed up. Good weather and great entertainers made this year's fair a success.
This year's fair attendance topped last year's with a 3.5% increase, meaning over 300,000 people went to the fair. Organizers said big name entertainment draws people in. This year Foreigner brought people all the way from Seattle.
Planning for the fair is a big task. "We are starting to work on next years fair and it comes from this years fair, what worked, what didn't. A little over 300 days to get the next one ready," said Rob Phillips, fair spokesman.
All the money from ticket sales go towards maintaining State Fair Park. Right now a large electrical upgrade is taking place. Plus, many of the building are historic.
Entertainers aren't scheduled yet for next year, but as always organizers try to make the fair bigger and better. Next years Fair is September 25th through October 4th.
