New Voters Registered in Benton and Franklin Counties
KENNEWICK, Wash.-- A record number of Washington voters are registered. The new record is about $3.5-million. That's about 1,300 more voters than the record set in 2004.
Secretary of State Sam Reed says there are more than 280,000 new voters this year, and thousands of new registration applications are still being processed.
Of those newly registered voters, more than 7,400 have registered to vote since January 1, 2008 in Benton county. In Franklin County, nearly 2,500 people have registered in that same time, and 2,200 in Walla Walla county.
Out of all the Washington counties, the one with the most newly registered voters was King county with more than 85,000.
