YAKIMA--Nurses say cases of the flu are already popping up in Yakima. Today one health clinic started giving flu shots.
A nurse told us the shot covers all strains of the flu from previous years and reduces your risk of getting the flu by 90 percent.
She says the shot is the best way to prevent getting the flu.
"A flu shot not only protects the individual but it protects the co-worker, family, children as well," nurse Rosemary Thierolf said.
Thierolf says more than 200,000 people are hospitalized with flu-related illnesses every year. More than 35,000 people die each year from the flu. Many insurance carriers cover the flu shot... But it only costs $30 without insurance.
