YAKIMA--Operation Harvest collected close to 100,000 pounds of food today.
The Rotary Clubs in Yakima run Operation Harvest and they collected food from Yakima, Selah, Naches, Terrace Heights, Union Gap and Moxee.
This is Operation Harvest's 26th year.
Operation Harvest will distribute the food to eight local food banks.
Volunteers hope the food will last through the holidays.
"We plan on this food right here lasting up to or just barely through Christmas," Operation Harvest Chairman Dusty Edler said.
More than 150 volunteers helped out today. While they did not collect as much food as they did in 2007, they still met their goal of 94,000 pounds.
