KENNEWICK, Wash-- A dog and a cat are dead after a fire broke out at a house in Kennewick around 10 a.m. Sunday Morning.
It happened near the intersection of Tenth Avenue and Union Street. Fire crews say the neighbors behind the house called 911 when they saw the fire.
Fortunately the family was not home the time of the fire, and fire crews were able to contain the flames and quickly put it out.
"The fire was contained to the room of origin and it burned under the house a little bit," says Captain Todd Kreutz of the Kennewick Fire Department. "We quickly contained that. There is smoke damage throughout the residence."
Crews also say the family may have been out of town. As of Sunday morning, there was no word if they had been notified. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
