KENNEWICK, Wash-- Local libraries are urging young students to turn off the t.v. and pick up a book during this year's 'Teen Read Week.'
This is the eleventh year of the nationwide outreach to teens. The goal of the program is to encourage leisure reading.
The Kennewick library will hold a donut and cider event this Friday, where students can enjoy free food while discussing their favorite books.
Mid-Columbia Libraries say close to 5,000 schools and libraries took part in the event last year.
