Family Celebrates Sons Life and His Gift of Life To Others
SEATTLE, Wash- As fans gather for the Seahawks versus Packers game, one family made the day a special celebration of their sons life. Honoring the one year anniversary of his passing.
"I know I must go on now by being able to spread the word that organ donation works, it helps and it's worthy," said Daria Miller, mother of organ donor.
It's been one year since Daria and John Miller lost their only son, B.J., in a car accident. An athlete who loved football, he suffered from two severe head injuries. The choice to donate his organs was clear, it was B.J.'s wishes, he'd said so in life.
"He says that's me dad, I want to join that," said John Miller, "I'm proud to be the parent of my son who's living on in others."
B.J.'s gift helped six people, four organs and two corneas. In honor of B.J., the family gathered to watch the Packers play the Seahawks. B.J.'s two favorite teams. They toasted to his memory. A mariachi band was present as well, B.J. was very proud of his Mexican heritage. All things on game day pointed to B.J.
"I dunno if it's a gift from him, a gift from god or coincidence or what have you, but low and behold on the one year anniversary they're playing in Seattle," said John.
"It's him, his way of saying mom your gonna be okay," said Daria.
