Pasco Mother Asks Businesses To Put Up International Breastfeeding Symbol

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, Wash.-- One Pasco woman is taking women's and mothers' rights into her own hands.

Brittany Hansen is asking local businesses to put up the International Breastfeeding Symbol. Hansen says she wants women to feel welcomed to breast feed anytime in public.

She's also handed out brochures, hoping business owners create new policies to protect women's rights.

"If they have these brochures then they can train their employees to say, I'm sorry that you're offended but she's within her rights to do this, then they can't ever have an employee make a decision that the management didn't agree with," said Brittany Hansen, a Pasco mother.

The symbol was created by a man in South Dakota. He won the design contest for mothering magazine. Many Tri-City businesses have already put up the symbol.
