Crews Searched For Man Who Drove His Truck Into the Naches River
NACHES, Wash-- When the call comes in for a water rescue, crews from all over the valley respond. Monday night looking for a man in the Naches river.
Fleeing from law enforcement a Naches man droves his truck into the Naches river just off of Lewis Road. He was followed down stream, but lost in the darkness. This brought on a full force water rescue.
"You know due to the outside air temperature and the water temp a person in the river at this time doesn't take very long for them to become hypothermic. And it just makes the problem a lot worse," said Alan Baird, Naches Fire Department.
The water rescue crew combed an island on the river, with around 30 men on scene. Some crew members worked their way down stream and the surrounding banks when the call came in.
The suspect was found in a nearby home and taken into custody by the Yakima Sheriffs Office.
