Palin: Mortgage Plan Not A Hand-Out, But A Hand Up
By MICHAEL RUBINKAM Associated Press Writer SCRANTON, Pa. (AP) - Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin says John McCain's plan to reduce taxes and help distressed homeowners with their mortgages will "get this economy moving again." At a campaign rally in Scranton, Palin said McCain's mortgage proposal is "not a hand-out, but a hand up" to keep financially overwhelmed Americans in their homes. She took a swipe at Joe Biden, the Democratic vice presidential candidate who grew up in Scranton. She says Biden is opposed to clean coal. Pennsylvania is one of the nation's top coal-producing states. She also says Barack Obama talks a lot about the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan but never says he wants the United States to win.
